This is the end. The end of my high school life. Though I'm still going to school to get my mock scripts back next week, I dun think I'm gonna enjoy my school days like I did today.
First of all, I'm sorry for being this mean but the assembly sucked. Perhaps it's mainly because of the place where we lined up, I couldn't hear a word of what the student council members said, especially the speech of the mighty head girl, I'm sorry I couldn't make sense out of her speech. The whole idea of reading out what the class teachers feel about their own classes is nice, but it's just, well, ordinary. Where's the gimmick? I mean, play some music then read out what the class teachers have written then sing a song and that's it? I dunno how much time and effort they have spent in preparing for this...I'm not sure, maybe they've done a lot of work to make this assembly memorable, but I can't sense a bit of sincerity, especially when we're informed of the assembly just one day before by an sudden e-mail.
Maybe it's just me having bias...I feel truly proud of last year's student council. I remembered clearly what they did last year for the graduates, I mean the beautiful iris, the touching speech of Grace. Okay maybe it's just in-group bias and my cynical and picky personality.
Another disappointment is that we didn't get to use the Rosary Church for the mass, well, not exactly, we're still in the Rosary Church, but we have our mass in the smaller hall next to the main church. And the cover of the booklet was, well, funny. And what's up with the pianist? She's like she had no clue of how to play the piano.
Luckily we have invited the right priest. I enjoyed his speech so much, especially when he talked about how we turn loneliness to solitude. Be your best companion, it's important especially in this world which we're bombarded by all kinds of information and influences.
When he said we should count our blessings, he reminded me of the Good Things List I've abandoned since last year. Yea, it's time to write up one again, good things remind me of how lucky I am.
