Growing up is not the absence of dreaming
HKU SSSP 2003--04
Just back home from the HKU SSSP. It's been only 4 days that I'm away from home...but it feels like ages when I arrived home just now. Well, maybe I was born a house cat.
The HKU SSSP is the most rewarding, enjoyable and memorable programme I've ever joined in my entire life. I really really truly love this programme so much especially my lovely group Mom and Dad and wonderful groupmates in Group 9 荷花池!!!
Well I've got a lot a lot to say but I seem to have lost my ability to express them in words...anyway, here's a list (no one will enjoy reading long paragraphs with Christy's crap language ability) of things or events or precious moments in SSSP:
1) My group Mom Josephine and Dad Bob, and my lovely groupmates (or siblings?): Ivy (also my roommate), Natalie, Bern (my schoolmate actually), 肥莫, Andy adn Kathy. The programme will not be so enjoyable without you all :)
2) All the forums I've attended in the programme. Valuable chances for me to learn more about Social Sciences and my interest in the Faculty grow! Enjoy the intelligent debate and presentations of the professors and the SSSP participants though critical thinking is my weakest link...
3) I love the Cheers so much! Funny how I actually have no house spirit at all in school, now I enjoy shouting out loud with my groupmates so much. Have so much fun in ice-breaking session and Hall night.
4) The Lady Ho Tung Hall is really a comfortable place to stay in! The room is pretty large and the facilities are ace.
5) Field Trip to RTHK. Though the part introducing the web site of RTHK was quite pointless. It's an eye opener of how a radio station operates.
6) Orienteering. I enjoyed it so much!! Though it's really exhausting to run in the huge campus of HKU (I was tired after the orienteering like, I've just finished a year of exercises) but it's great fun spending time with my group, group 3 and the other groups, especially in the bidding stuffs section at the end.
7) High Table Dinner. Highlight of the SSSP. Felt like a grown-up wearing formal dressing and high heels. Dsicovered the importance to be sociable (oh yea...I'm the ultimate introvert on earth)
8) Discussion of the project "Mission Possible" in the common room on the 1st floor...well...our group actually ended up playing around in the first two discussions....it was so much fun...we're like crazy.
9) Discovered that I can stay up til 5am and can still be concious in the afternoon. Last night our group spent the whole night till 5am for the project preparation. Our topic is "The fulfillment of RTHK's mission: 'impartial coverage' on social issue". Thank you Group Mom and Dad for helping us all through the night though Dad's actually sleeping all the time....
10) Done something touching for Group Mom and Dad with my lovely groupmates. They love our hand-made certificates! And we ended up going up and down the hall to show other mentors the cert...asking them to take photos for us...great fun!
11) Talking to each other in our group like those kids on ETV. Playing tricks and so-called "magic" in the commone room.
Indeed there're so much more happy moments in the SSSP, but the thing is I really think that I'm so inadequate...the other partcipants are really competent and intelligent (and I really think that I'm not qualified to be the first in form this year...). Have to euqip myself during the rest of the summer to better prepare for AL. Anyway, this programme is really the coolest programme I've ever joined and it's like, it has open up a brand new world for me and give me so much insight into the university life.
Used to think that HKU is not my kind of place. But well, maybe I should reconsider it now :) Actually I'll be grateful as long as I can major in Psychology.
To my lovely Group Mom Josephine and Dad Bob,
Thank you so much for taking care of us for the past few days and I really love you two :) I will always remember Mom's little smile and Dad's look when he's sleeping...haha
Ivy my roommate,
I really love sharing room with you coz we really do have much in common :) I'd be bored like hell if you weren't there with me, though in the morning we're often so sleepy that we dunno what each other was saying...haha
My groupmates,
I love spending time with you all so much!! I really will miss the days with you all.
Bern, lovely chat with you during the programme, though we're schoolmates, I had never talked to you like this before. Love spending time with you
Natalie, you're such a smart and lovely girl :) love you and wish you every success in CE!
肥莫 and Andy, kings of gag....you two are really funny.
Kathy, nice working with you during the preparation of the project :)
Gotta work hard for my assignments and keep up with my revision schedule...but probably I'll spend tonight and tomorrow sleeping as if I'm in coma.
See you in the tutorial, Alin :)
used so many smilies in this entry though smilies are really not my kind of stuff....anyway, I'm a happy happy lil girl, huh.
