Growing up is not the absence of dreaming
Troy
Watched "Troy" with Sally, Sylvia and Evelyn last night.
So enjoyable to joke and talk to the three Orli-lovers...hahaha I'm the only one who's not interested in Orli...funny to see the three of them getting excited when we were in the theatre.
But then end up Sally's having a crush on Brad Pitt and both me and Evelyn think Eric Bana is the best among the three men. Sylvia's still loyal to Orli.

Anyway, a little review of the film:
Plot: Weak plot, especially the love between Paris and Helen. There's no developement between the love at all, just wonder why Paris, a playboy, can be so madly in love with Helen. I know the movie's focus on the battle but afterall, this love is the event which spark off the war, right?
Fighting scenes: Good. The figthing scenes are the selling point of this movie. Quite a smooth flow of the battle scenes and the scene of the fight of Achilles and Hector, made me hold my breathe.
Cast:
Eric Bana (Hector):
Good performance. Hector's actually the most captivating character in the movie. Really touched by his loving care to his wife and son. A honourable man with dignity. Eric Bana did a good job in bringing out these qualities of Hector. He sort of remind me of Aragorn coz Hector and Aragorn are the same sort of man (okay I have a thing for this kind of man...well). I like Hector the most among the men in the movie.
Orlando Bloom (Paris):
So-so performance. Probably becoz the character Paris is very two-dimensional and Orli couldn't really make the best out of such a weakly depicted character. And Orli's kind of stereotyped as Legolas. He just reminds me of Legolas all the time and I can't really think of him as Paris in the movie.
Brad Pitt (Achilles):
Good performance. Achilles' the other well-written character in the movie besides Hector and Brad Pitt's quite a suitable choice for this character. The scene when Achilles went through an internal struggle after the king of Troy claimed back the body of Hector was impressive. Brad Pitt did quite well in bringing out the tender side of this strong man. But the attraction between Achilles and Briseis should be described more in details, coz that's a very interesting sub-plot. By the way, Brad Pitt's got a real nice body shape.
Diane Kruger (Helen):
A decoration in the movie. She's pretty, but far not pretty enough to be Helen, the woman who's caused the war. Helen's again, like Paris, a very weakly-depicted character in the movie. All I can remember about Helen is that she's crying all the time. Kruger's eyes are beautiful like crystals in blue but they're emotionless. What a waste.
Rose Bryne (Briseis):
My favourite character among all in the movie. Briseis' a vestal virgin who devoted her life to the Gods and later she's captured by the Greek army. A very witty and tough woman, the conversation between Briseis and Achilles about beliefs in Greek Gods and power is the most enjoyable part of the movie. Rose Bryne's performace's good, she's cute and smart enough to be Briseis. It's kinda sad that she witnessed the death of Achilles, the man who's saved her and whom she loves.
Sean Bean (Odysseus):
Another likable character. A wise man whom Achilles can only trust. He's the one who thought of the idea of using the horse. It's interesting to see Odysseus' struggle, he follows Agamemnon, the foolish king, he often finds it hard to compromise with the king's order but as a wise man himself, he knows all he can do is to follow. Sean Bean did well in bringing out the humor and the "powerlessness" of Odysseus.
Julie Christie (Thetis):
Mother of Achilles. She has just appeared for a v.v. short period of time before Achilles made his decision to go to war. Was stunned by Julie Christie's elegance and beauty. I wanna grow old gracefully just like her.
"Troy", well, not a bad movie, 3 stars out of five.
I wanna watch "Sylvia", Gwyneth Paltrow as Sylvia Plath, it's coming up on 24/6.
*Edit*
