Growing up is not the absence of dreaming

Where's the karma?
Where has the karma of our school's students gone?
Where has the elegance and composure we have in the past gone?

I know as a matter of fact, youngsters' quality is deteriorating nowadays in our society. But that really doesn't mean that students in our school should behave along with the deterioration.

Our school is said to be one of the top schools in Hong Kong. We have reputation. But the juniors (well as a matter of fact some of our seniors also) are ruining, contaminating it.

Please, dun equalize the word "cool" with being rude, decorating yourself with unafforable brand name products (and then starve yourself in order to save money for these products which dun even look good on you) and pursuing as many guys as possible. It's not what "cool" is. "Cool", well, according to my interpretation, is having your own individuality, being intelligent and critical, trendy but not compromising with enculturation, able to speak up for yourself and treat people with respect and consideration. "Cool" people is someone who can be trusted and respected.

Even if you'd like to behave in your own way, somehow you have to be abide by the rules. You have choosen to study in this school, then you have to follow the rules. And breaking rules impulsively just because you hate them is an act of affecting the community as a whole. Yes, rules can be changed. Rules can always be revised. But if you hate the rules so much, you can speak up, you can make suggestion, or you can choose to leave the school. There's always room for grumbling about them, but not breaking them.

And manners, sometimes are just common sense. When someone is hurrying through the corridor, you just naturally move aside to let her pass. When somebody drop things onto the floor, you naturally pick it up for them. When someone's eating at the table, although they only occupy half of the table, you naturally ask for their permission before sitting down. But I can't see any of these common sense in the juniors.

Of course, the juniors can choose to screw their lives up and live as losers. But please, mess yourself up, dun mess the others up at the same time. Isolate yourself. When you're living in a community, you have to consider the others, you have to follow the rules, you have to contribute. It's facts of life. And if you can't stand it, live in a stranded island all by yourself. You can then do whatever you like. Dun mess other people's lives up. When you're ill-mannered, you're affecting the atmosphere of the whole school, and dun expect people to forgive you and teach you how to behave. When you dun listen just once, everyone will give up on you, and regrets are futile.

We're not asking for too much. We just want the juniors to behave like girls. Normal girls with common sense. Why can't they perform a simple task like this?

I don't believe in banding. But how can this banding system be so meaningless now? How can our school ever accept people like this? They are not strong academically already, now they have poor conduct. If we lose the traditional karma of our school, we're nothing. Nothing at all.

I just want to say my school's name out loud with pride.

Be proud of your school, and let the school be proud of you too. It's that simple.

Worse still, we, the seniors, can do so little to help, when some of us just seem to refuse to cooperate. We dun have the authority to help the juniors, do we?
